Like 1000s of others, my eldest daughter is in the midst of HSC trial exams.
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster - the fear, anxiety and trepidation is full-on. The pressure these kids feel is like nothing I remember. Or maybe I do 🤔.
There’s not much I can do to really help - I provide emotional support, sustenance and a lot of lifts to the university library. 😂
I also test her on her course notes. What has become apparent to me in the past weeks is her absolute love of English and all it’s written elements. Her face lights up when she talks to me about authors, texts, critical analysis and the craft of writing…
I try to point this LOVE out to her but she is too busy moving onto the next subject, the next notes, the next expectation.
It’s only as you get older that you realise the “best tip” is to do what you love, it makes the journey so much sweeter.
Lucky I love what I do.
I can’t say I knew from the start where I’d end up or what I would do - but I always loved the stories of people and business ❤️
