#LinkedIn Audio Events
What's all the fuss about?
When would you use it?
LinkedIn Audio Events is a new way to connect with your professional network. These events can be live, interactive conversations with people all over the world.
I jumped on a LinkedIn Audio Event last night with some other LinkedIn and digital experts (hosted by Guy Strijbosch πΊπ¦). We all wanted to see how this new tool works in real life. It was good to see it "in action".
My key takeaways π:
1. The audio event is set up by a "host". Click on the Home icon at the top of your LinkedIn page. On the left side of your screen, click the + Add icon next to Events
2. Make sure you have an agenda planned to keep yourself and your guests on topic.
3. Participants can join an event, listen to the speaker, and request to join on "stage" to share relevant thoughts/insights. The "stage" is managed by the event host.
2. What I would like to see added - a chat box (maybe something for your team to look at Shiva Kumar) π€ - This would allow participants to say something without "being on stage".
Otherwise, the host is managing a LOT, putting people on stage and then off-stage, etc.
3. LinkedIn profiles are shown during Audio Events, simplifying introduction and networking processes.
4. If you are running an Audio Event, make sure you promote it:
π΅ invite attendees from your LinkedIn network using the Invite Connections button on your Event page.
π΅ Include a link to the Audio Event in your promotional materials - emails, social media posts, email signatures, and even your website.
When can I see LinkedIn Audio events being used?
β
expert subject discussions
β
product launches
β
roundtable discussions
β
expert panel events
What I didn't like?
π΅ Currently, you can run an audio event from 15 mins to 3 hours! I can't imagine listening for more than 30 mins, there is no video (obviously) so you can lose your audience quickly.
π΅ I think participants should be able to "ask a question" without being put on stage
π΅ maybe a 'spotlight' shone on them instead?
π΅ It was hard to find info on the event once you had joined - there needs to be an 'event details' section.
SO, if you are currently running events or looking for new ways to connect with your network - I strongly recommend giving this new tool a crack - it is important to constantly push the boundaries with your sales and marketing strategy. This is a fresh and new way to share your expertise, knowledge and personality!
Go for it ππΌππ―
