QUICK TIPS: Things that DON'T Work Well on LinkedIn

Let’s talk about the things that DON'T WORK WELL on LinkedIn.

Here are some good ones that you need to know - list compiled by the @Lucy Bingle | LinkedIn Experts Team

1. Notify your employees - My team has tested this feature numerous times for clients and for ourselves - and guess what? It rarely works.
Our workaround - send an email to your team every time you share a post on your #LinkedIn company page - make sure you share the link and ask for some love ❤️.

2. Doing a LinkedIn Advertising Campaign when you don’t have an organic LinkedIn strategy.
Nope this won't work - you will be throwing your 💰at the wall. Your target audience need to see some presence on the platform.

3. Connecting with your target audience and then directly hitting them up with a meeting or worst still a sales pitch.
Fastest way to get disconnected.
This platform is all about building trust, sharing knowledge and demonstrating that you are a good egg.

4. Posting every day or worst still multiple times a day - You are spamming us!
I guarantee you, people will start to turn your notifications OFF or disconnect.
Our tip – Post from your personal page a couple of times a week and 2 or 3 times p/w on your company page - Remember, LinkedIn is not your only sales & marketing (or smarketing as we like to say 😉) channel to connect and engage. Spread the love - pick up the phone, email, use other socials - don't kill us on LinkedIn.

So stop and think about how you could do better on LinkedIn.

QUICK TIPS: Features that help build your professional brand

#LinkedIn has taken Creator Mode to the next level.
The following features will help you build your personal professional brand ( #thoughtleadership )

🎯Enhanced analytics for Creators.
NEW analytics - from total impression numbers to engagement statistics - these metrics help you see what’s working and where you can refine your content strategy.

🎯 Improved individual post analytics. LinkedIn provides a detailed analytics summary page. This page makes it easier to assess your impact, and includes more in-depth data on impressions and shares. This data is available for all of your posts, regardless of whether they’re text posts, articles or videos. More data means you’ll be able to refine your content creation strategy. 👍🏼

🎯 Increased visibility.
LinkedIn provides new content alerts to notify your followers of the content you post. Members can choose to receive notifications whenever you make a new post on LinkedIn by clicking on the “subscribe bell” at the top of your profile.
(Make sure you ring my 🔔)
This will make it easier to access the content that interests you even if your feed is full.

🎯 Feature your newsletter.
When in Creator Mode you can produce and share your own newsletter. Since this launched, LinkedIn has seen a 625% increase in the number of newsletters being published on LinkedIn and an 89% increase in the number of subscriptions to newsletters globally.
⭐️ Make sure you highlight it in the featured section of your profile so your audience can quickly find the latest edition and subscribe. ⭐️

If you're not familiar with it, “Featured” is one of the most important elements of your profile. It’s a big piece of real estate that sits near the top of your profile and allows you to highlight your most important videos, whitepapers, articles, images, and now your own personal publication.

🎯 More video.
Video is one of the most powerful tools for building your brand. Video allows you to communicate and engage your audience in a more human way.
And… you’ll be able to see how many people viewed your video. In addition, your Profile Video Ring will be showcased in the feed and in search so people can easily learn more about you and follow your updates.

So there you go a few more reasons to get onboard, take the plunge and put yourself in

QUICK TIPS: Make your LinkedIn Profile Page Shine

Remember: People are here doing their research, learning about you, what you do and how you help.

4 Tips to make your #LinkedIn profile page shine ✨

1️⃣ Showcase your area of expertise.

LinkedIn’s Creator Mode allows you to identify your top 5 #hashtags
Display them right at the top of your profile just below your headline.
This new feature (and the regular use of the appropriate hashtags) will make it easier for you to find relevant content and make it easier for the people you seek to influence to find you. The hashtags also help get your content seen by the people who are interested in your topic.
Use the mobile version of LinkedIn to turn on Creator Mode and then post related content and remember to add all relevant hashtags to those posts.

2️⃣ Link to your #website

Before this feature became available, it was a challenge to give viewers of your profile easy access to your web page (or your YouTube Channel or wherever you’d like people to go to learn more about you).

Now, in the top section that contains your headshot and headline, you can add a link to whatever site serves as the showroom for your brand. 👏🏼👏🏼

3️⃣ Enhance your posts.

No matter how great your content is, no one will see your brilliance if you don’t entice them to click on your posts.
There are two primary ways to make your posts more engaging and visually appealing.

Carousel posts.
LinkedIn lets you share multi-page documents as a carousel, allowing viewers to page through the document right there in their LinkedIn feed using arrows that appear on the post.

Animated post images.
Every time you share an update, you can add an image or video to attract clickthrough on your post. To capture the attention of LinkedIn members, consider using an animated gif instead of a static picture. The little bit of movement differentiates your message in a sea of text and flat images.

4️⃣ Make your profile pop.

Use the profile section called “Featured” to highlight content that will reinforce your personal brand and demonstrate your expertise.

This profile section occupies valuable real estate, front and centre! Use it to house infographics, images, videos, whitepapers and other interesting content. You can reorder the content in this section to keep it fresh and to customise it for what’s important right now. 🎯

🛑 Time to stop procrastinating - take 20 minutes to review your profile (and your teams)

Your profile page is basically your personal brand brochure so you want to make sure it looks super good! 🦸🏻‍♀️👍🏼
